In downtown Covington, Kentucky, there is a building on Linden Avenue where something extraordinary happens every week. Children learn. Families are fed. Lives are changed. This is the Moore Activity Center — a ministry of South Side Baptist Church that has been meeting real needs in our community for more than 25 years.
The Moore Activity Center exists to meet people where they are — and to introduce them to the One who can change everything. We serve children, families, and neighbors throughout Covington with free programs, meals, and community events, all rooted in the love of Christ. Every program, every meal, and every gift we provide is completely free to every family we serve.

Our History
On April 1, 2000, South Side Baptist Church in downtown Covington, KY took ownership of the "Salty Dog Saloon" as an answer to 33 years of prayer of former pastor Harold Pike. With the financial help of the church, special friends Elaine & Jimmy Moore, and former saloon owners Mr. & Mrs. Salter, that saloon became South Side's and ultimately became the Moore Activity Center, known as the MAC. The MAC has become a beacon in the downtown Covington area, seeking to Meet Needs and Share Christ with the surrounding community.
Amy Wilhelmus, Director
Amy has been serving as the Director and Inner City Missionary of the Moore Activity Center in Covington, KY since July 2000. She grew up at South Side Baptist Church, the birthplace of the Moore Activity Center and graduated from Holmes High School. Amy received her BS from Cumberland College in 1995, and MACCM from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000. Between college and seminary she served as a US-2 Missionary in Binghamton, New York. Amy, her husband Neil and son Corran live close by.
Amy states, “I believe I am exactly where God wants me. When I left Covington for college, the one place I said I did not want to serve was my hometown. However, God used each place I traveled to prepare me for what I am now doing. I love watching God at work. He is doing great things both in and through me, which I am honored to say. God has given me a great group of people who help in the ministries at the Moore Activity Center. I love the people of Covington. I love that God has a plan for my life and that I am right where I am suppose to be.”
Our Programs
From weekly Bible programs to holiday giveaways, the MAC offers something for every age and every season. All of it is made possible by volunteers, church partners, and donors who believe every person in Covington deserves to be loved.
